Ansell Donates To UNICEF In India

Ansell has joined hands with UNICEF in India, contributing USD $100,000 to provide life-saving medical equipment like oxygen concentrators and diagnostic testing systems, hygiene and critical care supplies.

India is fighting a desperate battle against a violent new COVID-19 surge. Health and critical care facilities are overwhelmed, leaving entire families without the medical care that they so urgently need.

Ansell is proud to join major global corporations and philanthropic organizations in speeding financial aid to India. “The situation is dire,” says Magnus Nicolin, Managing Director and CEO. "Through the Covid crisis, we have increased output and provided huge incremental volumes to customers worldwide, we have also been able to keep thousands of Ansell people safe and our plants operating with only minor shut-downs, but in India we need to do even more and we are now providing funds for critical medical equipment like RT-PCR testing machines, oxygen concentrators, and other supplies that are desperately needed."

”Since the pandemic began, UNICEF, a global humanitarian aid organization, has shared information on how to stay safe from the coronavirus with more than 650 million children and their families in India and reached more than 3.1 million people across the country with critical water, sanitation and hygiene supplies and services. This latest wave is having a devastating impact, with a real risk of fragile health systems collapsing and mortality sharply on the rise.

Even before the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus a global health emergency, UNICEF had rushed six metric tons of medical supplies to the front lines. To date, UNICEF has delivered hundreds of millions of protective items for health workers along with urgently needed medical equipment and hygiene supplies to fight COVID-19. Key to UNICEF's effectiveness is its humanitarian warehouse in Copenhagen, the world's largest, which can ship emergency supplies anywhere in the world in 48 to 72 hours.

Special thanks to Preeti Sirohi, Sr. Manager HR for her efforts to coordinate this contribution.
